Mein Jahr in Mannheim war mehr als ein Studium, es war eine Lebenserfahrung.
Rebeccah Dawson (Carrboro)
My name is Soriane Migny, I'm from France, and I’m living in Mannheim in Germany as an exchange. I’m studying law at the university of Mannheim for my first year of master.
When I was looking for an accommodation in Mannheim, I was in France, so I wasn’t able to visit places that’s I got scammed, yes the place I’ve pay for it doesn’t exist. So I’ve lost money and when I arrived in Mannheim I didn’t have any accommodation that’s why I’m so grateful to the reactivity of the Ekkerhard foundation and the personal of the university of Mannheim that found me room in a shared flat, within the day of my arrival in Mannheim.
The flat is in the perfect location for student and and the rent was almost completely financed by the foundation, which is a real help, specially for people like who lost money because of a scam.
The foundation gave me also the opportunity with other international students. I was the first time for me that I have to live with other people (except my family), I was a little afraid at the beginning but I’m obliged to say that it was a very good experience.
This experience gave me the opportunity to live with other persons from different country. Thanks to this I ve discover new way of living, different culture and tradition and improving my languages skills.
Furthermore my flatmates were the perfect flatmates we had very good moments. The employees of the foundation and the university are very welcoming and always ready to help in everything.
Speaking to the city, Mannheim is a very good city for international student, where almost everyone speak English. The university, the castle of Mannheim is first a beautiful place but also a very good university teachers are very competent and there is a lot of help for international that need it (integration problem, courses problem …)
So to conclude I would confirm that coming in Mannheim was a very good decision, and the help I received from the foundation contributed a lot to this confirmation. So thank you.
